- To get the proper hand placement, put the club in the middle of your stance leaning against your belly. Grasp the club with both hands. Now your hands are in the correct position to address the ball.
- Release the trailing hand and then align the club head for the shot by moving the club and forward arm into a straight line from the shoulder to the ball.
- Adjust your feet to align your body for the shot without moving the club.
- Turn head backwards so that you are looking at the ball with the left eye.
- On the backswing, keep front foot's heel down on the backswing
- Start the club forward by turning the trunk of the body first. That means, on the initial downswing, get the chest to move the arms.
- When addressing the ball, keep the left arm and club in a straight line and make an effort to keep the grip away from your body to help force an inside swing path to cure a slice.
- I need to get my right elbow back into my side on the downswing.
- My best slice cure is to make sure that I swing on a more horizontal plane. This helps to eliminate my out-to-in swing path.
- I have an out-to-in swing pattern that creates my slice (the club head moves from outside the swing path back in toward my body as I connect with the ball).
- I take a full practice swing before addressing the ball. This gets my arms into the right position to hit.
- I need to be well balanced on my feet. This means not only toe to heal balance but also left to right balance.
- I keep my front foot's heel down on the backswing.
- My left arm never flexes at the elbow and the right elbow never leaves the right side of my body until after contact.
- Start the club forward by turning the trunk of the body first.
- I need to be sure that my feet are aligned where you want the ball to go.
- Also, I need to turn the head backwards a little before starting the swing so the left eye is on the ball.
- Using a light grip (soft hands), I am able to make better swings and better contact.
