Ever since I found the Free Lossless Audio Codec (FLAC) I have been saving my audio files in this format. There are CD albums that are not suited to this type of treatment. One of these albums that should not be separated into tracks is Pink Floyd's The Dark Side of the Moon. This album should be saved as a single file from start to finish. But, you ask, doesn't that make searching for a single track difficult? Well, yes it does make it like listening to the cassette tape. However, there is a solution that I have only tried recently. Using a CUE sheet (a small text document that defines the tracks and times) will allow the single album file to be treated like individual tracks.

I am using FOOBAR2000 to "play" the CUE files for the album FLAC files.

Here is the command line program in BSD that will rip a single file from a disc and create a CUE sheet.

abcde -1 -o flac -a default,cue
