September 13th to 16th, 2002 -- Las Vegas Vacation

Thursday 9/12/2002
Evening
I finished work about 4:00pm and headed home. I packed quickly and got some laundry done before the trip to Las Vegas. I knew this was going to be a great trip because Michelle and I were going with our buddy Lynda (die Krankenschwester).

Morning
Our alarm clock woke us at 4:00am; time to get our sleeply heads out of bed for the 7:00am flight to Vegas. We all got out gear stowed in my truck for the drive to SFO's long term parking. We grabbed a quick cup of coffee while waiting for the plane. Lynda helped to pass the time by telling one of her "Stories from the ER". We boarded the plane and sat down--we were all in the same row. I had the window seat, Lynda on the aisle and Michelle in the middle. The flight was short. We had only enough time to suck down a soda before "Return your trays and seats to the full upright position" was anounced. While we were waiting for our bags, David arrived to pick us up at the airport. It was good to see Dave again. He loaded our stuff and drove us to the Monte Carlo at 9:00am. We were fortunate to get our room right away. We unpacked our stuff and headed for food. We knew that the MGM had a good buffet so we went and ate a glorious meal. Monte Carlo

Afternoon
We knew we could not take a nap--we knew we would stay in bed too long. We decided that the best way to rest without sleeping would be to use the Monte Carlo's swimming pool, Wave pool, or lazy river. The sun was amazingly hot; it felt good after coming from cool Foster City. I ordered the girls a fruity drink and myself a house brew. We spent some time in the water, but mostly we just soaked up the sun to rest. The night was going to be big.

Evening
Friday evening we had purchased tickets for the Blue Man Group. We all got dressed up for a night out on the town. Holy crap! What a great show. It was like a huge rave party--maybe they should provide drugs!? Hehehehe. After that, it was time for some sleep.

Morning

Afternoon
Casino War at the Venetian

Evening
Smith and Wolinsky's is a great place to blow a lot of money. The steaks were outstanding. I am not a big meat eating carnivore, but that was one delicious cow. All of my best friends were there to help me bring on my 31st birthday--Dave and Maria, Lynda and Michelle.
After dinner, Dave and Maria took us to the Rio for some roof-top dancing. Due to the mysterious numbering scheme (I guess asians think the nuber 4 is unlucky) the top floor where the nightclub "the Voodoo Lounge" is called the 51st but in reality it is only 41 stories high. Jamming to some great music and drinking was a great way for us to spend time together. The funny thing we were witness to was a group of bridesmaids and a bride who were giving performances for the best fake orgasm. None of these girls could fake-out a 13 year old boy. My god, go get laid and then try again!
After the Rio, Dave and Maria went home for some sleep. But, this is Vegas and we were not ready to turn in just yet. We all hopped over to the Luxor for the hot-action nightclub Ra. This party was jumpin'! We left sometime around 2:00am with our ears ringing.

Sunday 9/15/2002
Morning
Breakfast on the house in the Monte Carlo. How you ask can you eat on the house at the Monte Carlo--sign up for the players card and you will receive a voucher for the buffet. Nourishment was good after a long hot night.

Afternoon
Lynda and I needed some more gambling action so Lynda, Michelle and I marched ofer to our new favorite game "Casino war" at the MGM. Michelle is not big on Casino War so she left to play slots. Lynda was on fire at the table. She quickly doubled the money she started to playing with at the game.
After some time, we left to get checked out of the hotel. We dropped by the Coke stand to get some "baby" Coke's--they are special because they come in the glass bottles. Glass really does make Coke taste better.

Evening
Dave came by the Monte Carlo to pick us up for dinner at his house. Maria had made Chicken Marsala. Oh, that was good stuff. There house is beautiful. Dave and Maria both know how to decorate.

Morning
It is now 2:00am and we are finally boarding the plane that should have taken off 2 hours ago. We are tired and would like to just get home. The flight was, um, I don't know, I slept the whole way home. We landed at 3:30am and quickly got our bags. The shuttle ride out to long term parking was not quick enough. I woke up enough to drive us home for a very long rest. I can't wait to go back.
